Christmas in the July ~ I love the reminder of the ways we can come and be together, to walk in the world with intention and grace.

Just love this one ❤️ Beautifully lived, and shared - and thank you for all the good links. I was just telling a random Apple help desk employee (while we waited for the inevitable multiple updates and restarts) how as I get older, I find I am inclined to feel responsible (but in a peaceful way) to remember and remind others of the pre-computer world, what it was like without devices etc. … he was expressing some fear of being older and not as clued in to the latest technology. I was saying it’s not so fearful a place to be. We hold a precious time / memory within us, and also that softness that comes with age that you speak of, that understands the gifts we were given, and how to share them with more grace and intention. I hope I have expressed this well… :)

Perhaps it makes me old, but I do miss the pre-computer world more and more often these days, even as the existence of the internet allows all of this connecting. But I miss feeling like my brain space was just mine, and actual private, internal space, and not constantly connected, with a window open where the world shines in frenetically. I think you said it beautifully. <3

A personal note

Hello Asha

My daughter Natasha Stovall gave me a link to your blog. I was very happy to read of your family Christmas. Please tell June I remember her with great affection and am happy to know she seems to be doing well. Terri Shaw formerly of Iris St. t.shaw@rcn.com

Asha,

your writing gives me hope as I see you mature and grow. You are such an amazing and articulate writer writing in integrity, I feel shy in answering. Perhaps because I remember your parents and their passion when they newly returned from Africa with two small boys, pre-you, and then YOU! There was much laughter, dedication and warmth. Not easy to transfer years of Tanzania to D.C. They were human and showed their love to many in various ways. You have been a recipient of much of that. I'm glad you are in touch with your family and , as you write, you are both accepting them and yourself more, allowing more love to show. So glad you and Paul are communicating in 'modern' ways. My heart smiles. Thank you for sharing. <3
