I hear you. It echos a bit with my experience of navigating loving relationships with my grown son's ex- sweethearts. I've fallen in love with darling women who my boys loved and they were part of our family for years, and when those relationships end, I'm here loving someone my boy is no longer with. It is tricky, and also it is not. I love this woman and she loves me. I feel grateful to him for bringing her into my life. She's wonderful, and I'm so glad I get to keep loving her. I lost a loving relationship with a sweetie of one of my sons because I thought at the time that it was inappropriate to maintain a relationship with her, but I've learned from that that in the ven diagram of life and lives, it's ok and better than ok to keep loving someone even tho the person who brought you together is no longer in the total picture. He's in my picture, but not hers, and she's in mine, but not his, and it's all good.

I feel as though we went to the lake with you - in the joy, in the struggle, in the messy - and we came out better for it somehow. What a wonderful group of humans you have - definitely a "bonus"!!!
