In my earnest online and analog social circles these days, everyone is writing and talking about the need to build connections, networks, and community as an antidote and rebellion against fascism.
This post feels like a scoop of ice cream in a heat wave. And all these lovely thoughts on community versus isolation remind me that I need to text you. Thank you, friend.
This is beautiful and wonderful, and thank you for taking in your niece. My folks did that for one of my cousins, and we still have fond memories of studying for tests together, trying out for drama club, and other fun moments of being pseudo sisters. She even let me borrow the coolest clothes 😎 😍 😏 Take good care of you, and have fun building 👷♀️ something real as a break from writing in this wild and challenging reality we call home for several decades, if we're lucky. ❤️ 💙 💜 💖 💗
Great news! I am looking for something to build or make or create…unfortunately I haven’t yet figured out what. Good luck on your projects, and maybe I can visit your land someday 💙
May you give yourself grace and the foresight to plan your breaks and meals. I wish for you good snacks and the ability to step back and remember to breathe when some wrong measurement or inanimate object gets the best of you (as they inevitably will, or at least that's how it always goes for me). Can't wait to see it someday!
I can’t wait, either! The benefit of being off-grid is that I have to run all my tools off my Jackery. When the Jackery runs out, all building has to stop until it’s charged again. Meaning, I can’t just go and go endlessly. Breaks will be enforced, whether I want them or not. This is undoubtedly a good thing.
Ha, I need like a power bank meter that just shackles me when I get tired. I'll be tearing out linoleum tile and redoing my laundry room floor next week, so I'll be with you in spirit!
I literally just bought materials to teach myself rosemaling (a folk art form from Scandinavia, basically stylized doodling with oil paints) and now that I've had all the things the free online course told me I needed in my possession for 72 hours, I've been a little intimidated to start! I'm going to overcome this today. Thank you.

I feel your excitement and am sure Harold's energy is joyous too! xoxo

You can do it!
